GATE 2017 Notification- Admit Card Released Now
GATE 2017: Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is conducted by IISc and IITs every year for the students of engineering and science aptitude for higher education for M.Tech./Ph.D. in IITs, IISc and various other Institutes/ Universities/ Laboratories in India. The candidates with the valid GATE score is also being used as one of the criteria for recruitment in many Government and Private MNC’s organizations.
As per our sources, this year candidates appearing in GATE 2017 exams are more than 9.23 Lac. Like every year this year also GATE 2017 examination are conducted by the IITs and IISc as a computer based test having multiple choice questions and numerical answer type questions. In this article, we are providing the all related information about GATE 2017 aspirant with relevant information.
What’s new in GATE 2017?
|New section in XE||The XE (Engineering Sciences) paper now has a new section on Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (section H). With this, the number of sections in the XE paper has increased to eight (A-H).|
|Examinations (Date and Session)||February 4th, 5th 11th and 12th 2017 (tentative) in two sessions:
Any change in timings or sessions/dates shall be displayed on GATE website www.gate.iitr.ernet.in
The session timings at GATE International Centers according to their local time shall be notified well in advance.
|GATE International||GATE examinations shall be conducted in Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka and United Arab Emirates. The pattern of examination remains same, exam timing/Center shall be notified in admit cards. The International candidates should have completed Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Master’s degree in Science in a relevant subject or are in the final year of the program.
For admission of International candidates, a common admission portal is being developed and International candidates shall be informed about it well in time on this GATE website
|Application Process||No restriction on the second choice examination city to be in the same zone as a first choice city. It can be anywhere in India. Thumb impression of candidates needs to be uploaded during the application procedure. Candidates who have completed the qualifying degree, need to upload scanned image of degree completion certificate or final year/semester mark sheet. However, candidates studying in the final year of their qualifying degree need to upload scanned image of the prefinal, year (or fifth/sixth semester) mark sheet or provisional certificate letter from his/her Institute as proof of eligibility criterion. Similarly, this applies to candidates of AMIE, AMICE, and other similar programs.|
GATE 2017 Notification
- This year GATE 2017 examination shall be held in Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka and United Arab Emirates for admissions of candidates from these nationalities in IITs and IISc.
- Examinations for all the 23 papers (disciplines) will be conducted by an ONLINE Computer Based Test (CBT).
- A candidate can appear only in any one paper of the GATE examination.
- Candidates from the final year of their qualifying degree need to upload scanned image of last year mark sheet from his/her Institute as proof of eligibility criterion.

GATE 2017 Exam Pattern
GATE 2017 would contain questions of two different types in various papers:
- Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) carrying 1 or 2 marks each in all papers and sections. These questions are objective in nature, and each will have a choice of four answers, out of which the candidate has to mark the correct answer(s).
- Numerical Answer Questions of 1 or 2 marks each in all papers and sections. For these questions the answer is a real number, to be entered by the candidate using the virtual keypad. No choices will be shown for this type of questions. The answer can be a number such as 10 (an integer only). The answer may be in decimals as well, for example, 10.1 (one decimal) or 10.01 (two decimals) or 10.001 (three decimals). Wherever required and possible, it is better to give NAT answer up to a maximum of three decimal places.

GATE 2017 Admit Card
GATE Admit Card can be downloadable from official web portal on 5th January 2017 (tentative). Students are informed that Admit Cards shall NOT be sent by post/email as it will be hosted online only. Candidates will NOT be allowed to enter in the hall without admit card and valid ID Proof. We will update the page with the link once it gets hosted officially.
GATE 2017 Results
GATE 2017 Results will be announced on March 27, 2017, at 17:00 hours and will be available on the GATE Online Application Website. GATE 2017 score is valid for THREE YEARS from the date of announcement of the results. GATE 2017 results may be made available on payment basis to Government organizations (Educational Institutions, R & D Laboratories, Industries, etc.) in India and abroad based on a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee and the organization intending to use the GATE score. Details in this regard can be obtained from The Organizing Chairman, GATE 2017, Indian Institute of Technology – Roorkee.
GATE 2017 Score Card
GATE 2017 Score Card will issue after the declaration of results, only for the qualified candidates. They can download the GATE 2017 Score Card for future use once it made available. As per reports the GATE 2017 score cards can be downloaded between March 27, 2017, to May 26, 2017, from the GATE website. In case any candidate requires a soft copy of his/her GATE Score Card after May 26, 2017, till December 31, 2017, they can do so by paying a fee of 500 (five hundred only) on the GOAPS portal
